15 Years of Service: Celebrating Matthew Lloyd and the Bungan Beach Surf Life Saving Team

Over the weekend, Rob Lloyd, Rainbow Club Vice President and Malabar Magic Event Director, presented Matthew Lloyd, Barker College staff member and President of Bungan Beach Surf Life Saving Club, with a plaque recognising 15 years of volunteer service.

For 15 years, the Barker/Bungan Surf Life Saving team has played a vital role in providing water safety for the Malabar Magic Ocean Swim — Rainbow Club’s major annual fundraiser supporting swimming lessons for children and young people with a disability.

Each year, these dedicated volunteers ensure every swimmer can participate safely, contributing to the inclusive and supportive spirit that defines the Malabar Magic.

This milestone celebrates not only Matthew’s leadership but also the enduring partnership between Barker College, Bungan Beach SLSC, and Rainbow Club — a collaboration built on community spirit, teamwork, and care.
